Back in June a wild rumor hit the web claiming Marvel was having huge issues with their IRON FIST series for Netflix and that they may cancel/delay the project indefinitely. News on that front quieted down for a very long time — which is usually a sign of bad intel — until last week when Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada debunked the rumor.
Now, Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb has chimed in to also debunk that wild IRON FIST rumor to ComicBookResources.
“There was a lot of speculation about what was going on with ‘Iron Fist,’ because [fans] hadn’t heard anything about it, but there’s never been any change at all. We knew exactly what we were doing at Marvel and at Netflix. Let’s get ['Jessica Jones'] out there, everybody knows that ‘Luke Cage’ is up and going. What I can say right now is we’re very excited about ‘Iron Fist.'”
When asked if there will be any IRON FIST news coming soon, Loeb confirmed there will be.
“The short answer is, ‘Yes, there’ll be news.'”
So stop thinking IRON FIST isn't coming because according to two executives near the top of the Marvel hierarchy it's still on the books and happening.
IRON FIST is scheduled to release exclusively on Netflix sometime during the second quarter of 2017.
