Sounds Like Disney Learned a Lesson From AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON For STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Disney owns both Marvel and Lucasfilm and it seems like the entertainment company has learned a lesson from one of their own. Many Marvel fans were annoyed, and angered, by the mass amounts of trailers, clips and television spots for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON earlier this year. This was mainly due to the fact it revealed too much, including way too much of the epic Hulk versus Hulkbuster fight sequence.

Now that Disney is ready to unleashed their next blockbuster on the masses, with STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, it sounds like they have learned a big lesson about 'less is more' when it comes to revealing new footage in their films.

At The Force Awakens press conference, writer and director J.J. Abrams revealed that Disney backed his decision to keeps plots points secretive and to keep footage at a minimum during the marketing process of the movie before its release.

"My nature, which is to keep things quiet, was something that I was certain we were going to have fights about," Abrams said. "But Disney, to my shock, was arguing to not ruin, not reveal, not show every story beat. We've all seen trailers for films that literally show you the movie in Cliff's Notes form, and you go to see the film and go, 'yeah, that was literally the movie. I saw it in a 2 minute, 10 second piece.' So I was very grateful that Disney actually took the lead to keep things quieter."

Bravo to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy as well as bravo to Disney CEO Bob Iger and studio chair Alan Horn for supporting Abrams' decision. Keeping the biggest and best reveals for your theater seat is how this is supposed happen. Hopefully, Marvel got this memo for their films moving forward.

(This also applies to you too Warner Bros. after revealing way too much in your most recent BATMAN V. SUPERMAN trailer.)
