Well, well, well... looks like Marvel Studios not only found their BLACK PANTHER director, but they found a comic book fan too. Ryan Coogler (Creed) is officially directing the feature film, starring actor Chadwick Boseman, and he issued his first official quote (via HeyUGuys) after Marvel made the announcement several days ago.
“I’m excited. I grew very into pop culture, very into comic books, so it’s something that is just as personal to me as the last couple of films I was able to make. I feel really fortunate to be able to work on something I’m this passionate about again.”
Studio head Kevin Feige also shared his excitement about Coogler in the following quote.
“We are fortunate to have such an esteemed filmmaker join the Marvel family. The talents Ryan showcased in his first two films easily made him our top choice to direct ‘Black Panther.’ Many fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with Ryan we know we’ve found the perfect director to bring T’Challa’s story to life.”
BLACK PANTHER releases on February 16. 2018.
