Actor Harrison Ford is not going to be easy to replace when HAN SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY releases in 2018. Whichever young actor Lucasfilm and Disney pick for the role of a young Han will instantly have the pressure of multiple generations of Star Wars fans on his shoulders.
And you thought writer/director J.J. Abrams felt pressure while helming STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.
As of right now no actor have been cast in the role of a young Han Solo, but Variety claims their sources have the short list of actors who will be considered for the the role.
"Sources tell Variety that after seeing thousands of actors, execs have cut the list down to about a dozen actors with Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, 'Brooklyn' star Emory Cohen and 'Everybody Wants Some' actor Blake Jenner among the names making the cut."
Please note that there are not a dozen names on the list provided so expect to hear a few more names before an actor is officially cast.
Abrams also offered up some research advice (via Variety) to whomever lands the role following in Ford's footsteps.
“Watch ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark,’ Abrams said. “It’ll all be right there.”
'Raiders' is seen as Ford's definitive role as an actor and while a new actor needs to watch Ford's Han Solo performances in Star Wars, to leave out Indiana Jones from any research could be devastating for the actor. No pressure.
HAN SOLO releases on May 25, 2018.
