AGENT CARTER Season 2 Episode 5: 'The Atomic Bomb' Recap

Pretty good AGENT CARTER episode for the middle of the season. While it did have some cheesy moments (the slow motion walk with the team) and the showdown between Peggy and Whitney was entirely too short, it wasn’t a half-bad episode.

In the beginning, Jason gets his five minutes of screen time when he realizes able to become somewhat physical in form when he touches the zero matter that was on the dead body of Jane Scott. Aka victim numero uno. This propels Peggy into attempting to steal the body, which goes awry when Chadwick and Whitney Frost get there first. Jarvis and Peggy Carter witness Whitney absorbing the zero matter with a sudden need for an Atomic bomb to get more zero matter.

Peggy nearly gives the owner of the company that has the Atomic Bomb, Hugh Jones, brain damage but she gets the key to get into the building and add Rose the secretary and Samberley the irksome scientist to their team. Whitney's connection to get the A-bomb is an old mafia boyfriend (who is more than a little unhinged). She gets him to agree to lend them a few men. The race for the bomb is on.

As Jarvis gets the bomb out with Samberly and Rose, Peggy goes to confront Whitney and Chadwick. After a couple of fists being thrown, Peggy falls off the ledge and gets impaled. Obviously she is a titular character so she doesn't die, but she does go through some pain while Violet patches her up.

Earlier in the episode, after a not so smooth proposal in which he loses be ring in the couch, Violet says yes to Sousa’s proposal. This changes later when she can see as clear as day that Sousa’s still is in love with Peggy, which is the reason why Violet rejects him.. poor Violet, but we all saw this coming.

After being rejected by Violet for making eyes as Peggy, it’s hard to think Sousa is just going to keep out of the running for Peggy’s heart. Jason also hasn’t been able to really be a runner either with being basically a ghost and all. However, Jason feels to be a one season character and Peggy has history with Sousa. In the end it’ll come down to the guy that Peggy truly is in love with. I’m rooting for Jason.

Also the temporary addition to the team tonight was interesting. Samberley was annoying as ever and not clever enough to overlook his whiny nature. Rose definitely needs to be a regular. Kicking ass and taking names as well as Peggy, makes her my second favorite. Since Dottie left, we need more women fighting in the field. Peggy needs to invite Mrs.Ana Jarvis to join them. Where the heck did she go anyways?

Meanwhile, we know who wears the pants in the relationship when Whitney Frost threatens her husband. Chadwick seems to be realizing that his darling wife could snap him like a twig. I have a feeling that Chadwick may be realizing that he is expendable. I feel it’s foreshadowing moment when Chadwick sees his wife nearly kill Peggy that Chadwick will eventually help Peggy and the team deal with Whitney, whether it is our of fear or concern, that is yet to be discovered.
