Beacuse of DEADPOOL Studios Will Green Light R-Rated Super Hero Movies and Sony Should Revisit VENOM / CARNAGE

Editorial: DEADPOOL is a huge success and it has changed the game in the super hero movie genre by allowing studios executives to see that a well-made R-rated super hero movie can work as long as it is true to its source material, action-packed and with some comedy mixed in. Plus as long as it has the right writers and filmmakers at the helm.

So execs are probably going through their rolodex of super hero and comic book properties right now to identify which character(s) they should move forward with as R-rated. While Marvel and Disney seem content to keep their more mature characters on Netflix, there is also a chance that a hero like Moon Knight could get his own R-rated feature. But the likeliness of that happening is lower than at other studios because it's Disney and they'd probably want it on Netflix anyway.

Sony partnered up with Marvel Studios for Spider-Man last year, but there's a good chance Disney/Marvel could let Sony move forward with R-rated heroes under the Spider-Man umbrella. That last sentence is referring to the previously reported VENOM / CARNAGE movie which was being developed before Sony partnered with Marvel Studios, in February 2015.

The Majority of fans and moviegoers should be more than familiar with Venom because he was in SPIDER-MAN 3 and is one of Spidey's fan favorite villains, but some may not know who Carnage is. This is a sinister villain who was a symbiote spawn of Venom and who took the host of a killer. That alone should make Sony consider a VENOM / CARNAGE movie where Venom is more of the [anti-]hero in this movie since Carnage is so much more evil than he is.

Obviously, this is an editorial and some hopeful speculation but if there's one previously rumored movie that was being developed that should be brought back to the top of Sony execs' pile of possible projects to move forward with, it's VENOM / CARNAGE.
