DEADPOOL Writer Discusses Possibility of a Funny Moment if He Shows Up in a Future PG-13 X-Men Movie
DEADPOOL was beautifully done as an R-rated movie. It's a big reason why the movie has been such a huge success since the super hero and comic book movie genre needed this type of kick in the nuts.
DEADPOOL opened bigger than any of Fox's X-Men movies ever and is Fox's biggest opening movie in the companies history. So it's time to accept the fact that Deadpool is the new face of Fox's mutant movie universe and the likelihood of him popping up in future X-Men movies is higher than ever now.
In fact, if he was to show up in another X-Men movie there's a good chance it could also be in a PG-13 movie. DEADPOOL writer Rhett Reese actually teased how this could be a funny moment in a recent interview with Collider.
“You’d have to have him pushing the edge of that PG-13 harder than any character in it because he does need to feel out of place in a PG-13 movie, if that makes sense. But I could see Deadpool very easily commenting on the fact that, ‘Suddenly I’m trapped in a PG-13, there’s certain things I can’t do around here.’ That could be fun for us. We get to break rules like that. Deadpool knows he’s in a movie, if he knows he’s in an R-rated movie and now he’s in a PG-13-rated movie, he’s probably gonna be frustrated by that. We would play to that, actually.”
An annoyed Deadpool who has to censor himself to PG-13 in a cameo appearance has the potential to be hilarious. Fans may not want it since they'd prefer the R-rated Deadpool, but if done right this moment could be a scene stealer.
