GAMBIT Won't Release in October 2016 and Fox Schedules 2 New Dates For Future Untitled Marvel Movies
This could be seen coming for months now as Fox's production delays on the Channing Tatum-led GAMBIT movie has been removed from its October 7, 2016 release date, per BoxOffice. Fox did not set a new release date for GAMBIT but it will reportedly start filming in the coming spring months. This is the second movie release date Fox has had to remove from its schedule after they removed FANTASTIC FOUR 2 from its June 9, 2017 date back in November.
However, Fox has set two new release dates for future untitled Marvel movies on October 6, 2017 and January 12, 2018.
With the success of DEADPOOL and its sequel already greenlit and being written right now, it will be assumed that one of these two new dates could be for DEADPOOL 2. And perhaps Fox's in-development NEW MUTANTS spin-off movie might be closer to getting a production green light, too. Or maybe GAMBIT will move into one of these dates. There's several possibilities including the obvious follow-up to X-MEN: APOCALYPSE as well as maybe X-FORCE, which is gaining steam after DEADPOOL became a huge hit.
Fox's slate of release dates set for untitled Marvel movies includes the following:
October 6, 2017
January 12, 2018
July 13, 2018
Besides X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, which releases on May 27, WOLVERINE 3 is the only other Fox produced Marvel movie with a set date on March 3, 2017. With these two added release dates Fox is moving toward putting out two new Marvel movies per year.
