Marvel Should Develop a DEADPOOL Animated Series For Disney XD Right Now

Editorial: The DEADPOOL movie is not for everyone. It's violent, bloody, sexual and full of foul language which is why it has received an R-rating by the MPAA.

A very small group of fans are not happy about this and an attempt to get Fox to cut a more family-friendly PG-13 version of the film was being petitioned. Those involved with DEADPOOL said there is no way a PG-13 version can be cut together because the movie would lose story plot points that would ruin the film.

With all of this in consideration, this is why Marvel Animation should strike while the iron is hot and start developing a Deadpool animated series for Disney XD. This way a more family-friendly version of Deadpool can be shared with children and those who aren't comfortable with hyper-violence, gore and bad language.

Maybe Marvel is already planning this, and maybe they aren't — there's no insider info here, by the way — but Deadpool is one of the hottest Marvel comic book characters right now and the demand for more is there. Especially with the arrival of the news that a sequel has been green lit by Fox and a script is already being written.

Having Deadpool on Disney XD may sound like a terrible idea to some of the most hardcore fans but those fans need to realize they just got the movie they've wanted for years. It's time to let younger fans have more Deadpool, too.

While Disney would never let Marvel make an R-rated super hero movie (although maybe for Netflix), be happy Fox has the movie rights to Deadpool. Because this version of Deadpool may have never seen the light of day as a movie if Disney still had his movie rights.

Matter of fact, Deadpool has already appeared on Disney XD in Season 2 Episode 13 of ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN. His appearance with Spidey was fun, entertaining and perfect for kids. The proof of concept for an animated series is right there in that single episode.

Deadpool is money right now and Fox only owns the live action movie rights to the character so Disney can (and could) make this happen. Sharing Deadpool to a younger audience is not a bad thing. If hardcore fans don't like this idea, then don't watch it IF it ever happens, it's that simple. So don't be so selfish to think that a more toned down animated Deadpool shouldn't happen at all for all-ages.
