POWERLESS: Vanessa Hudgens Cast in DC's Workplace Comedy TV Series

The battle between DC and Marvel (DAMAGE CONTROL) to get the first comic book-related comedy series to television has DC moving forward a little bit faster. Variety is reporting that actor Vanessa Hudgens (Sucker Punch) is the first to be cast in NBC and DC's POWERLESS.

"Based on characters from the DC universe, 'Powerless' is a workplace comedy set at one of the worst insurance companies in America — with the twist being that it also takes place in the universe of DC Comics. The show is about the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains.
"Hudgens will play Emily Locke, an insurance claims adjuster who loves her job because she gets to help people. The character likes to fly under the radar and just get her work done, and she finds herself increasingly exasperated by the disruptive antics of the various superheroes that proliferate in her city.
"The single-cam, half-hour comedy was penned by Ben Queen, who will exec produce. Michael Patrick Jann will direct the ensemble pilot."

If NBC and DC are starting to cast POWERLESS now, then its pilot episode might be ready for this Fall's TV season, but that is not confirmed as of right now.
