Sorry Detroit, JUSTICE LEAGUE Will Base its Production in London Due to Michigan Reducing its Film Tax Incentives
Entertainment Weekly has confirmed JUSTICE LEAGUE will begin filming on April 11, 2016 and will base its production operations in London; not in Detroit as director Zack Snyder previously thought was going to happen.
Let's flashback quick: Back in October 2014, Snyder went on a local Detroit radio show and teased he would bring more filming to the city after BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE wrapped.
"I feel like there's a pretty good chance we'll be back," Snyder said. "We have a couple of established locations here that I think if we make another movie we would have to come back and shoot that."
Well, things drastically changed in the state of Michigan when it comes to film industry incentives to lure Hollywood to the state to shoot big blockbuster films. Connecting the dots here, in July 2015, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed a bill ending the state's big film incentives therefore ending any potential for a return by DC Films. Especially after it was reported that another Transformers movie will film in Detroit and get the majority of its remaining state film tax incentives. While this is not confirmed, the truth seems to be in-between the lines of a lack of major tax incentives.
EW reports:
"Justice League will shoot at the Warner Bros. Leavesden studios in southeast England, as well as various locations around London and in Iceland."
Sorry Detroit, but it looks like one Snyder screwed over another Snyder and DC super heroes will not be running around your town as Zack previously believed would happen.
JUSTICE LEAGUE releases on November 17, 2017.
