BATMAN V. SUPERMAN Weekend Opening Projections Update and Keep the Toddlers at Home

BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE has been a tough movie opening to predict. Whether its by official box office analysts or the big Hollywood trade websites or even the studios, this has been a hard one to pin down. Especially when you factor in how most critics really don't love any of director Zack Snyder's past movies — he's never gotten higher than a 75% on RottenTomatoes.

Even Warner Bros. has been modest about their own prediction since they've projected a $120 million domestic opening which is just about $12 million less than DEADPOOL made in its opening weekend last month. That's just a silly low number coming from the studio because they've reportedly dumped $250M into the production of this movie, as well as another reported $150M into its marketing.

Analysts have been estimating a $120M-$130M domestic opening but now, as we are in the week of its release, the estimate looks to have increased to approximately $150M for its domestic release this weekend. Worldwide, BATMAN V. SUPERMAN is looking in the range of close to a $350M opening.

These are solid numbers but the looming question remains... will these numbers be big enough for Warner Bros. executives?

Some box office analysts think if this movie doesn't hit at least $1 billion worldwide then execs will not be happy. And in order to maximize profits, reports claim the film needs to finish its theatrical run in the ballpark of $800M worldwide.

But Batman actor Ben Affleck may not have helped in the matters of box office performance with a recent comment to AP about not taking his young son to see the movie.

“Four years old is a little young to see this whole movie. I don’t want him to have nightmares.”

The movie is PG-13 so even though its Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman together on the big screen for the first time ever, its rating does serve a purpose because of the movie's 'intense sequences of violence and action throughout, and some sensuality.' It may not be the R-rated DEADPOOL, but parents still need to be aware that this movie is on the darker side of its PG-13 rating.

In the end, it is the parents choice since nobody knows their children better than they do.
