DEADPOOL Breaks Through the $300 Million Wall Domestically; $673 Million Worldwide

DEADPOOL did not maintain its No. 1 weekend spot during its fourth weekend of release — Zootopia owned theaters this weekend with a record breaking $73 million estimated domestic haul — but it still performed very well while landing in third place. Its domestic weekend tally is an estimated $16M. This brings the domestic total to over $311M.

At $311M, DEADPOOL is the third highest grossing R-rated film, domestically, ever behind The Passion of the Christ ($370M) and American Sniper ($350M). This also brings DEADPOOL into the fourth spot all-time in domestic super hero origin films behind SPIDER-MAN ($403M), GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY ($333M) and IRON MAN ($318M).

Overseas, DEADPOOL brought in $21M to bring its International total to $362M. Not bad for a film that didn't even show in the planet's second biggest movie market; China banned DEADPOOL due to its mature content.

Worldwide, DEADPOOL has amassed a massive $673 million so far. An amazing number for a film with a palty $58 million production budget that former Fox executive, and current Sony Pictures chair, Tom Rothman never wanted to make.

DEADPOOL 2 is currently being developed and written by returning screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

[All weekend box office totals are estimated until Monday afternoon when actuals are officially reported.]
