While at the red carpet premiere for DAREDEVIL Season 2, Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada teased Netflix's IRON FIST to the website Decider.
“I think the Danny Rand character himself will have a different perspective on the world than some of the characters that you’re seeing now — as will Luke Cage.
“Our goal is to provide four different shows that each have their own feel while, again, feeling like they are a part of a whole. Not an easy task, but I can tell you that our team is really fantastic at doing this. It’s still the early stages of Iron Fist so I’m a little hesitant to say too much more than that. But Danny Rand is a completely different character and the world that he comes from, how he obtained his powers and his skills — all completely different. I think fans will be pleased.”
From a power standpoint, Quesada is right that IRON FIST will be different than DAREDEVIL, JESSICA JONES and even LUKE CAGE. Each of these characters have a power set that is more grounded and less flashy looking than IRON FIST. Danny Rand wields mystical martial arts power in his punches, although it remains to be seen if the yellow glow of his power will be included in his Netflix show. If so, then IRON FIST will definitely stand out compared to the other Netflix heroes.
Actor Finn Jones has been cast in the lead role of IRON FIST and the series is set to begin production in the coming months with a projected release in 2017.
