Right now the super hero movie genre is in a state of, 'Let's make more super hero movies R-rated' bonanza that DEADPOOL has started. But one movie you'd think might garner consideration for an R-rating won't get it. Producer Charles Rovan confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that SUICIDE SQUAD will not get the R treatment for its theatrical release.
“I think right now we’re going for the PG-13. I don’t know that that’s going to materially change. We can give that movie the edge that it needs and still maintain a PG-13.”
So there you go. However, this doesn't mean there won't be an R-rated or Unrated release on Blu Ray and DVD later this year.
SUICIDE SQUAD releases on August 5, 2016.
