Siobhan is confirmed as human and the DEO have no idea why she survived or how she got her powers. Siobhan is less than impressed with the lack of help and leaves. On her way out, Siobhan seems to be affected by her new found powers with headaches and seeing visions of a skeleton-like face.
Back at work, Kara is apparently in Cat's good graces where she received unexpected advice on how to get James with the oldest trick in the book make him jealous. Kara doesn't have much time to contemplate this because soon crazy eyed Siobhan comes walking into Catco in an anger haze and screams so loudly it knocks Kara unconscious and out of the window.
Just as she's falling to her doom, here comes... the Flash!
Barry Allen a.k.a. the Flash runs so fast apparently from one earth to another and catches Kara before she can make a crater in city. He catches her and runs her to the middle of nowhere until she wakes up and realizes what happens and starts flying back while he runs underneath her Kara finally realizes that being saved by a guy in a red suit is not normal for National City and confronts him. Poor Barry realizes that he is not on his earth and needs help to get home.
Quick recap: The Flash resides in Central City where meta-humans are a new thing and so he is obviously surprised by Supergirl who is just one of the aliens on earth that helps National City. Barry got his powers when he was struck by lighting the same night the particle accelerator exploded. His speed allows him to move through different earth's through breaches if he vibrates at a fast enough frequency.
Barry meets James and Winn and explains this all to them. Kara and Winn fangirl over Barry's powers and the realization there is another earth, while James is less than impressed. Seems like someone is jealous of the new superhero in town. Cat gets an exclusive picture on Barry saving Kara and takes it upon herself to name the "new" superhero, The Blur, much to Barry's chagrin.
Siobhan, in the meantime, took off after trying to kill Kara and goes to see her aunt. Her aunt tells her that it the voices she hears is the curse of the Banshee and that the only way to end it is to kill the person who wronged you or her power will manifest and she will lose her soul. Despite loving her evilness, Siobhan decides to kill Kara with a little help from Livewire, who she breaks or of the DEO.
Cat refuses to leave when Kara gets the news of Livewire's escape. Kara asks for Barry's help, who obliges. Barry is more than psyched to help them at the DEO where they find Livewire and Siobhan (now called Silver Banshee) at an abandoned warehouse. Initially brought down by the supervillians, Barry and Kara just nearly escaped using the combination of Kara’s freezing breath and Barry’s tornado hands. So very cheesy. So very cool.
Once again, in a funk. Kara confides in Barry about being alienated by her own city because of the red Kryotonite. He encourages her to take things slowly (Yes, he realizes the irony) and that time will work everything out and they go to the DEO to get some gear to defeat the two villains.
After Cat gets kidnapped by Livewire and Silver Banshee, Supergirl and the Flash go to rescue her. The newly designed earbuds Barry make them impervious to Silver Banshee's screeching. Livewire and Banshee still get the upper hand when Supergirl takes the hit of electricity instead of letting it hit a helicopter. The crowd of people, amazed at her willingness to save them, surround Supergirl from the villains while firefighters douse Livewire and electrocutes her and Silver Banshee.
Sadly, it’s time to get our favorite speedster home. Barry has the idea for him and Kara to run their fastest and then have Kara throw him through the breach back to his earth, which works perfectly.
Taking Barry's advice on not taking it slow, Kara invites James over and after a rambling session, she kisses him. She doesn't get a real reaction because as soon as it's over, James and other people in her building start walking out in a daze. Kara sees that it's not just her building, but everyone on the streets. This seems to be part of Nan's Myriad plan to brainwash citizens of the earth to take over the world. No rest for the wicked apparently.
Melissa's and Grant's chemistry is perfect as Kara Danvers and Barry Allen. They play off each other like they've been doing it for years and their joy is infectious. The Flash and Supergirl make the perfect team up because of their equally optimistic outlook and overall personality of each character that played off each outer. It would be a mistake not to have another crossover between them.
One thing I have to mention: Cat reveals that she knew Barry was the Flash the whole time and allows Kara to go see him off. Really? She can tell Barry is the Flash but she got fooled by a doppelgänger of Supergirl? I highly doubt that. I think Cat knows exactly who Kara is and is keeping this information to herself, but time will only tell for sure.
SUPERGIRL did a good job of continuing the storyline of Kara gaining the trust of the citizens and letting the police department start locking up meta-humans so they can get a fair trial, something James advocated for before. This was probably the best episodes of the season. SUPERGIRL has finally found it’s rhythm and the temporary addition of the Flash gave the episode a memorable first crossover.
