BATMAN V. SUPERMAN Starts its 2nd Weekend With an Estimated 71% Domestic Drop Off on Friday

Even though it pulled in over $420 million in its worldwide opening weekend, and seemed to be critic-proof after all of the negative reviews, all eyes were focused on the performance of BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE in its second weekend.

Thank goodness for those huge opening weekend box office numbers too because its second weekend has not started off well. As in an estimated 71-percent drop-off for its second Friday compared to its opening Friday kind of bad.

BATMAN V. SUPERMAN took in $15M on its second Friday. This is compared to the $54M it banked last Friday. These numbers are all domestic and, truth be told, there is a good chance overseas box office numbers could compensate for the fall-off stateside.

[Please note: Its March 24 Thursday evening opening numbers are not included, for comparison accuracy, but if you add those into the mix then you get an 81-percent drop. Yikes.]

Initially projected to have a drop-off of approximately 65-percent for its second weekend, it seems being critically panned as well as less-than-stellar word-of-mouth has gone against all the positive buzz its massive opening weekend provided. The film was predicted to pull in somewhere close to the $60M range but according to BoxOfficeMojo it's now looking closer to $50M range.

Full weekend estimates start hitting Sunday afternoon.
