CAPTAIN MARVEL Director and Casting Announcements All Coming by the End of This Summer

When CAPTAIN MARVEL releases in 2019 it will have taken Marvel Studios 21 movies before releasing their first female-led film. To say it will have taken too long is an understatement.

But get ready for news on Marvel's first female movie as studio president Kevin Feige told Fandango announcements for it are coming soon.

“I think we’ll be announcing a filmmaker in the next month or two, and probably some cast members later in the summer, at the end of the summer.”

This sounds like Marvel Studios could be eyeing San Diego Comic-Con and a Hall H presentation in July to possibly announce the actor who will be Carol Danvers. Although this is also just hopeful thinking since Marvel Studios bypassed SDCC last summer for Disney's D23 Expo the following month.

As of right now the only confirmed information, from Marvel, about CAPTAIN MARVEL is that GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY co-writer Nicole Perlman and Inside Out co-writer Meg LeFauve have been developing a script for CAPTAIN MARVEL since April 2015. As well as some struggle figuring out Danvers' powers for the big screen. (See post links below.)

Previously, actors Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt have been rumored for consideration as the title role and, more recently, Marvel fans love the thought of Oscar winner Brie Larson landing the leading role. By the end of this summer fans should know which actor will have landed the lead.

CAPTAIN MARVEL releases on March 8, 2019.
