Has Disney and Lucasfilm finally decided on which young actor they want to play a young Han Solo in their anthology movie HAN SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY? According to Deadline the favorite is Hail, Caesar! actor Alden Ehrenreich.
However, this is not final until Disney and Lucasfilm confirm it, and they have not. Not to bring up bad reports but last year Deadline did report that actor Asa Butterfield was the frontrunner to be the next Peter Parker / Spider-Man and that role went to Tom Holland. So nothing is official here until the studio confirms it.
Meanwhile, it sounds like a Hollywood trade website showdown as The Hollywood Reporter states the shortlist is between Alden Ehrenreich, Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service). Then there's Variety who claims Blake Jenner (Everybody Wants Some!) and Jack O'Connell (Unbroken) are still in the mix, too.
In other words, when you take all these reports into account, we are back to the same list of fives names that were reported as the Han Solo actor shortlist back on March 16. Moving forward, The Daily SuperHero will just wait until there is an official announcement of which actor lands the role of Han Solo because it seems like it will be one of these five guys.
HAN SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY releases on May 25, 2018.
