The final trailer for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE has arrived today — see post link below to watch it — and at the very end fans get a tease of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine popping out his adamantium claws. Not his bone claws. And if you look closely at this hand, in the screenshot above, it's bloody around his knuckles.
This could mean one of two things: Either Wolverine is in the midst of a berserker rage and that's the blood of those he's already killed or he might have just received his adamantium claws at the Weapon X facility.
It's easy to say the former of the two explanations is the easiest one to go with, but at the end of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST you see Logan's body pulled from the water by Mystique disguised as William Stryker. Many fans took this as an implication that Wolverine would soon get his metal claws.
In the 70s period piece movie, Wolverine did not have his adamantium claws and he had his bone claws instead. So if there is a time for Fox, producer Simon Kinberg and director Bryan Singer to give Wolverine his adamantium claws in the past timeline it would probably be in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.
If this teased scene is when Wolverine is at Weapon X after getting his metal claws, it hopefully won't be the same origin story previously told in past X-Men and Wolverine movies. Even though it's a different past, post-Days of Future Past changing the X-Men movie timeline history, when it comes to Wolverine's adamantium origin it's should play out a bit differently than previously seen. If this even happens in this movie at all.
X-MEN: APOCALYPSE releases on May 27.
