Marvel's mutants may have dominated the box office this weekend but Marvel Studios' CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR stood firm with a fourth place finish during the Memorial Day weekend. Bringing in an estimated $15.1 million, Civil War moves ahead of DEADPOOL ($362M) to become the new No. 1 domestic movie of 2016, with a total of $372M.
Overseas, Civil War has been strong and currently sits at $730M in the International box office giving the Marvel Studios franchise a grand total of $1.1 billion worldwide.
IRON MAN 3 currently sits in third place on the studios' list of all-time worldwide box office grosses with $1.2B. Whether CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR can move ahead now seems more unclear than ever. But Disney couldn't be happier right now as the movie became their fourth $1B worldwide movie under the Marvel Studios banner last weekend.
