E3 2016: Looking For an Answer as to Why the New SPIDER-MAN Video Game is Exclusively on PS4

Since Marvel and Sony announced a new PS4 exclusive SPIDER-MAN video game is coming from developer Insomniac Games, there's been a question that needs to be asked:

Is this exclusive game release a result of the movie rights partnership deal Sony and Marvel Studios made over a year ago to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)?

It's a question that needs further answering more so than the answer Marvel provided in their press release yesterday.

"Why PlayStation? The PlayStation 4 is one of the most exciting gaming platforms ever! But not only have they created a great gaming console, they also have an amazing line-up of first party titles and a community of the most passionate players that we are thrilled to join," Marvel Games creative director Bill Roseman stated.

Seriously, why would one of the most popular, and highly profitable, super heroes ever created be limited to exclusivity to one gaming console?

This might be some speculation right now, and there's a good chance the answer may never be revealed, but when Sony and Marvel were discussing their partnership to bring Spidey into the MCU, it seems logical to assume that part of that deal may have included Sony gaining exclusive video game rights to solo Spider-Man games moving forward.

Above is just a guess right now but we will be inside of E3 2016 today looking for some kind of comment from Marvel Games on the showroom floor. We have also emailed Marvel Games and are currently awaiting a response.

If we do get an answer we will update this topic in a new post later today.
