Director James Wan spoke with CinemaBlend and teased the development of AQUAMAN. In his tease he says "villains," so expect lead actor Jason Momoa to be taking on more than one villain in his solo super hero film.
"I gotta say, one thing I love about the Aquaman world is all the really different, really interesting characters. They are interesting characters, including the villains – I’m not going to tell you which villains I’m going to play with! [laughs] But they’re super cool. They’re very larger than life, but they’re unique."
Previously, in March at WonderCon 2016, Wan spoke about his excitement at bringing cool sea creatures onto the big screen in AQUAMAN and his new quote above seems to confirm there will be underwater monsters. Makes sense seeing as how Wan has experience working in the horror genre and this lends many to believe AQUAMAN could have a little bit of a creepiness to it. Probably in its sea creatures and monsters lurking within the depths of the ocean.
AQUAMAN releases on July 27, 2018.
