Back in May, Joe and Anthony Russo confirmed AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR PART 1 and PART 2 would be retitled.
“The intention is we will change it, we just haven’t come up with the titles yet," Joe said. "But, yes, we will change it. And, yes, that is a scoop: we will retitle them.”
Since May, nothing has been heard about the retitling of the next two Avengers movies... until now.
According to TheWrap, Disney and Marvel Studios have dropped both the 'Part 1' and 'Part 2' from what was previously to be a 2-part AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR movie story arc. The movie formerly known as 'Part 1' is now just called AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR.
This also means that 'Part 2' is no more and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will be a standalone Avengers movie with its sequel now called 'Untitled Avengers Movie,' a.k.a. AVENGERS 4, until it gets a new title treatment.
AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR releases on May 4, 2018. AVENGERS 4 releases on May 3, 2019. The Russo brothers are directing both.
