Stateside, today is Independence Day but over in Australia today is the day that THOR: RAGNAROK officially begins principle photography. Marvel co-president and producer Louis D'Esposito provided this on Twitter.
Best of luck to @TaikaWaititi and the whole cast and crew of #ThorRagnarok . July 4 they started filming. Australia is in the future.— Louis D'Esposito (@louisde2) July 4, 2016
THOR: RAGNAROK has been said to be the most important Phase 3 film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and one that will further change the landscape of the MCU leading up to the next two AVENGERS films where Earth's Mightiest Heroes will finally come face-to-face with Thanos.
“The film takes place within the cosmos primarily, which is to say, frankly, very little Earth,” Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told CBR back in December. “I don’t think people will read into that title alone [regarding] what the movie’s going to be. It’s going to be perhaps, as totally different from the two prior ‘Thor’ movies as ‘Winter Soldier’ was from the first ‘Captain America.’ We want to take it to new places. We’ve got new characters that will show how big we’re swinging on this. And we have a Hulk.”
THOR: RAGNAROK releases on November 3, 2017.
