Outside of the fact a group of villains is assembled (Task Force X) to take on an evil threat, there isn't much known about SUICIDE SQUAD. Over on Entertainment Weekly, who are teasing their new issue which features SUICIDE SQUAD, a few more plot bits have been revealed.
Here's some bullets points:
- The movie takes place after the events of BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE.
- Superman is still no more.
- The government is trying to figure out how to protect the planet from potential alien threats who might have bad intentions.
- Amanda Waller concocts the plan to use the world's deadliest villains to form a team to fight a new threat.
- Waller's first target is possessed archeologist, now sorcerer, June Moone a.k.a. Enchantress.
- A powerful, mystic enemy emerges and Waller's Task Force X team is green lit.
- The only condition the villains face in order to be freed and fight the good fight is: Obey order or die, which is enforced by Rick Flagg, his samurai Katana as well as an explosive device on the back of the necks of the villains courtesy of Wayne Enterprises.
- The Joker's throws a wrench into the team's plans since his goal is to reunited with his true love Harley Quinn and this is where things unravel.
- The villains will face moments where they question themselves and if they can really be redeemed in order to humanize them. Since, you know, they're baddies.
SUICIDE SQUAD releases worldwide on August 5.
