DOCTOR STRANGE: Benedict Cumberbatch Teases His Inclusion into the MCU

During San Diego Comic-Con, the website io9 had a chance to speak with actor Benedict Cumberbatch about his inclusion into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Dr. Stephen Strange.

“This man [Dr. Stephen Strange] comes from a binary universe where it’s all about logic. He controls his fate and the fate of people under his knife — by skill, by hard work, by stuff literally at his disposal at the end of his hands. And the metaphor of him losing that through the crash, the tendons, the muscles, every manufacture of damage you can imagine, is sort of an emblem for how, when you lose control, you have to find something else.
“In search of the healing of his hands, what he really finds is the healing of his soul. He finds this other, ultimately different way of thinking about things which is through Eastern mysticism and, beyond that, what that opens up into other dimensions. Literally.”

Cumberbatch also told ComicBook, at SDCC 2016, that Dr. Stephen Strange will get pretty beat up during his path to become the Master of the Mystic Arts, DOCTOR STRANGE.

"He gets the shit beat out of him. He gets the shit beat out of his head, out his body. I mean he goes very, very, very far down in this story to scrabble back up to become a super hero in the film."

DOCTOR STRANGE releases in the states on November 4.
