Actor and musician Donald Glover has become a popular casting choice on the Internet over the past few years. The Internet wanted Sony to cast him as Miles Morales before they hired on Andrew Garfield in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN — which is funny because Glover has now been cast in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING in an undisclosed role. But up next, the Internet seems to want him to be cast in a galaxy far, far away.
According to the website BirthMoviesDeath, Glover might be the top choice by Lucasfilm and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller as a young Lando Calrissian in HAN SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY. The site is not confirming this report, but they do seem very certain Glover is a (or one of the) lead targets as they write:
"Glover seems like a good choice - he's both funny and smooth, and he's serious enough to be a real action star. Most crucially I think he would play the role without just doing an imitation of Billy Dee Williams, or some kind of silly riff on the character."
Whether or not this comes to fruition remains to be seen, but as fans of the television series COMMUNITY know Glover has comedic wit as well as acting savvy in his work that could transition into being a solid choice as a young Lando.
