GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2: Marvel is Still Deciding How Deep, or High, Baby Groot's Voice Will Be
The reality of this is the implication fans will get the first GotG2 trailer sometime near the release of DOCTOR STRANGE in November.
In the SDCC 2016 footage, Baby Groot was shown fighting through a bunch of goons in his tiny form. And yes... he was still as badass as ever even as a little guy. But one thing is still in question with this little version of Groot: How will Baby Groot's voice sound?
Returning to voice the character is actor Vin Diesel who is known for his deep voice and brilliantly said the same sentence over and over again in unique pitches and cadence in the first film. So there's a chance Gunn and Diesel might continue using his deeper voice, even for a much smaller Groot. The juxtaposition of such a little character with a booming, deep voice could be fun and funny!
But they could also go with a voice that we here at DailySuperHero.com like to think of as something more along the lines of 'Vin Diesel on helium.' This would also make sense for the tiny little hero.
Regardless, Gunn and the studio have yet to make a final decision of Baby Groot's voice, according to an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“Well, that’s a little secret we’re holding out on because we don’t know the answer. We’re still figuring it out exactly. Vin and I have been dealing with it a lot and have been figuring out exactly the right way to do it, so it’s taking some trial-and-error. But we’re figuring it out.”
Whichever way they go for the voice, it seems like a win-win whether it stays deep or is higher pitched.
