HAN SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Targets 3 Leading Lady Candidates and Donald Glover Still Frontrunner For Lando

In early 2017, Lucasfilm will begin filming HAN SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY (working title) which will star actor Alden Ehrenreich as a younger version of the popular smuggler. Variety is now reporting the studio is currently testing for the female lead in the film and three names have popped up.

"Sources tell Variety that 'Selma' and 'Creed' star Tessa Thompson [who is also Valkyrie in THOR: RAGNAROK], 'Power Rangers' Naomi Scott, and Zoƫ Kravitz [X-MEN: FIRST CLASS] tested in London this week for the female lead in the yet-untitled project."

The Hollywood trade outlet goes on to report how Lucasfilm still has actor Donald Glover at the top of their list as a younger version of Han Solo's buddy Lando Calrissian. Glover was first reported to be the top contender back in August.

"As for the role of Calrissian, reports had surfaced that 'Atlanta' star and creator Donald Glover was high on the list, but Disney and Lucasfilm still wanted a second round of tests to be certain on their decision. Solo’s friend was played by Billy Dee Williams in “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.”

HAN SOLO releases on May 25, 2018.
