Here's a double-dose of Deadpool news.
First up, about three weeks ago a rumor hit the web stating 20th Century Fox wanted JOHN WICK director David Leitch to take over the director chair vacated by Tim Miller for DEADPOOL 2. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leitch has officially signed on the dotted line to direct DEADPOOL 2.
Leitch is a great fit for the sequel because his expertise, before becoming a director, was as a stunt coordinator and as a second unit director working on many films including the MATRIX trilogy, plus many other action movies. His experience in stunt work should bring out fight sequences in DEADPOOL 2 which are even better than seen in its predecessor.
The second bit of Deadpool news, also from THR, says Fox is actively "putting into motion" (read as: very, very early development) DEADPOOL 3. Leitch did not sign on for the threequel, so Fox is keeping one eye forward at potential filmmakers for the third movie in the franchise.
DEADPOOL 3 is currently rumored to be setting up the X-FORCE team as Fox's next mutant team ensemble tentpole franchise.
DEADPOOL 2 still does not have an official release date but it begins pre-production and filming in Vancouver in early 2017.
