The Mother of Dragons is taking a journey to a galaxy far, far, away as Emilia Clarke is joining the cast of the still-unititled HAN SOLO standalone Star Wars movie in an undisclosed role. Check out the official press release below, but before you do please note that initially Lucasfilm set a release date for HAN SOLO on May 25, 2018, however, in the press release the studio states is film's release is just simply in 2018.
Could this mean HAN SOLO might be moving to a December 2018 release date as STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY and STAR WARS EPISODE VIII? Many Star Wars traditionalists still want these movies to be released in May and they will probably hate it if a release date change happens, but the press release might be hinting at a move to a December release... maybe.
"Emilia Clarke is heading to a galaxy far, far away — and she’s going to meet Han and Chewie.
"StarWars.com is excited to announce that Clarke, known for her stirring portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, will join the upcoming untitled Han Solo Star Wars movie. Clarke’s role will round out a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures.
"Clarke joins Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover — previously cast as Han Solo and Lando Calrissian, respectively — in the highly-anticipated film, which is set prior to the original Star Wars trilogy.
"The untitled Han Solo movie, helmed by directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, is set for release in 2018."
