It's a very ambitious thought.
During a press roundtable for FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, actor Ezra Miller told news outlets THE FLASH will being filming this year.
“We don’t know right now [who the director will be], but I think we’ll start this year, I think it’s coming up pretty quick.” [Via ScreenRant]
The important thing to remember here is that THE FLASH doesn't have a director right now. In fact, it has lost two directors and just about a week ago it was reported how THE FLASH might have to have its release date pushed back after losing director Rick Famuyiwa due to the always vague reason of "creative differences."
So how THE FLASH could possibly start filming within the final eight weeks of the 2016 calendar year remains a mystery. Usually when a director is bought on he or she likes to change some things in the script to best reflect their style, ability, tone, vision etc. It's doubtful, even if a director was announced immediately following this post being published, that THE FLASH could begin shooting scenes so immediately.
Hate to be the voice of logic here, but THE FLASH isn't trending to be able to hit its production schedule goals based on its March 16, 2018 release date.
MAN OF STEEL, BATMAN V. SUPERMAN, SUICIDE SQUAD, WONDER WOMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE all had about 16-20 months of a full production timeline before their respective release dates. Based on this information, THE FLASH would have to start filming right now at the latest to hit its production schedule goals and hit its current release date. It remains to be seen if the movie is even in pre-production at the moment since losing its second director.
The DC Extended Universe needs some fun and humor from one of its heroes and the Flash is just the hero to do it. Sadly, it seems like fans will probably have to wait a little longer before he gets his own solo movie but, at least, he'll be appearing in JUSTICE LEAGUE next fall when it releases on November 17, 2017.
