Seems Like There Might Have Been 2 Subtle Hero Mentions in DOCTOR STRANGE

***This post contains possible SPOILERS for DOCTOR STRANGE.***

***You've been warned.***

Now that DOCTOR STRANGE is out and has already amassed over $325 million in the worldwide box office, let us discuss two things you might have missed while in your theater seat.

According to some Marvel Cinematic Universe and comic book logic, James Rhodes (War Machine) and Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) may have had mentions in DOCTOR STRANGE. You might have missed these mentions and they both occurred while Dr. Stephen Strange was driving his supercar, pre-accident, while talking on speakerphone to try and figure out his next big medical procedure.

Two important references were made during this conversation. The first is about how a Marine Colonel has a spinal injury from using an experimental suit. Without it being confirmed, it seems implied that this is a reference to Rhodey and his accident in his War Machine suit during the airpot battle in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. Although, some fans think it could be one of the operators of a malfunctioning Hammer suit as seen in IRON MAN 2. This is definitely open to interpretation.

UPDATE: Derrickson confirmed to DigitalSpy that it was not Rhodey. Oh well... it was fun to pretend.

"That's not War Machine, actually. It sounds like it. And maybe in some other iteration we were even thinking it could be. The movie led up to present day."

The second potential hero mention was a bit harder to recognize and was during the same convo while Strange was driving his car. It was mentioned how there was a female patient in her 20s who was struck by lightning which is more complicated than usually because of an electronic implant in her brain that helps her with her schizophrenia. This kind of sound like Danvers since one of the CAPTAIN MARVEL writers confirmed how a new origin story for her would be in play in her film. This tease in DOCTOR STRANGE could be the set-up for her to become what Marvel Studios' is touting as their most powerful hero in the MCU yet.

And to kind of imply this may be legit, DOCTOR STRANGE director Scott Derrickson was asked if that was indeed Danvers' origin tease and he could not confirm or deny not it. But then Entertainment Weekly says Derrickson had a big smile across his face while being non-committal on the topic.

Oh... and there's Thor in the mid-credits scene but that's not a subtle mention at all.

Maybe it's all coincidence but that isn't how Marvel Studios works since they love to hint and tease their heroes in other MCU films.
