Welcome to the latest installment of "WTF Batman?" Today, we learn from The Hollywood Reporter that talks between the studio and director Matt Reeves to helm THE BATMAN have stopped as Reeves has removed himself from his commitment to the gig.
It only took a week since word hit the web that Reeves was not only the front-runner to land the director chair vacated by Ben Affleck, but he was also in contract talks with Warner Bros. THR says those talks broke down, however, they could resume once "heads cools." The implication here is the thinking that things got heated between them and if this assumption is the case, then don't get your hopes up for Reeves getting back to negotiations for the job. Although never say never in the movie business, too.
This departure by Reeves makes THE BATMAN the second DC superhero film in as many years to lose two directors, with the other being THE FLASH.
Stop this Warner Bros. because the constant, negative behind-the-scenes reports about your DC movies has gotten old and is very depressing, as well as tiresome, to report.
