The first season of LEGION has come and gone. If you haven't seen it, you missed out on a fantastic ride through the mind of a very powerful mutant named David Haller, played by actor Dan Stevens. It had twists, turns and walked the fine line between horror and superhero genres in brilliant fashion.
FX has already renewed LEGION for Season 2 — creator and showrunner Noah Hawley says it will be expanded to 10 episodes from eight episodes in Season 1 — and its season finale cliffhanger more than confirmed what is coming up next.
If you haven't watched it yet, here is your SPOILER ALERT!
In the closing moments of LEGION Season 1 Chapter 8 you saw Amahl Farouk, a.k.a. the Shadow King played wonderfully by Aubrey Plaza (an Emmy nomination worthy performance in Season 1), attaching itself to Oliver Bird, actor Jermaine Clement, and they drive away to a warmer place setting up the events in Season 2.
While speaking with TVLine, Hawley implied and teased the next season will have a big psychic showdown.
“There’s going to be something very complicated about going to war with yourself, really… we’ve now created a villain for David that is worthy of building a whole story around... I’ve spoken to Jemaine, and he’s excited to come back, so I think we’ll see a lot of him going forward.”
Oliver is a very powerful psychic, just like David, which is why the Shadow King attached itself to him. So fans should be looking forward to a psychic vs. psychic battle, David vs. Oliver and the Shadow King, as a big focal point in LEGION Season 2.
