Yesterday, Entertainment Weekly began releasing new images and information about THOR: RAGNAROK, which is the cover story in their newest issue. First looks at Hela, Valkyrie, The Grandmaster and a short-hair Thor were all revealed as well as a couple of plot hints.
Today, EW has revealed more plot points for this fall's movie.
- Since we last saw Loki, he was impersonating Odin sitting on Asgard's throne at the end of THOR: THE DARK WORLD. However, his casual ruling has unleashing the millennia-long imprisonment of Hela. And she's pissed.
- Thor faces Hela and she "blasts" him to Sakaar, which is barbaric planet ruled by The Grandmaster, who is "charming and nefarious."
- Valkyrie, a heavy drinker in hiding, brings Thor to The Grandmaster. He forces the God of Thunder to compete in gladiator combat and this is why Thor no longer has his long hair and he cannot use his hammer, Mjolnir.
- Hulk is Sakaar's most successful and popular gladiator. Actor Mark Ruffalo says you'll see a different version of Hulk not yet seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "He's got swagger. He's like a god." This is a partial adaptation from the 'Planet Hulk' comic book story arc.
- When Thor and Hulk reunite — the implication here is after they fight in gladiator combat — THOR: RAGNAROK becomes a road trip, buddy movie.
THOR: RAGNAROK releases in the U.S. on November 3.
