After nearly a year of their longer-than-anticipated director search, Marvel Studios has made its pick for their first female superhero movie, CAPTAIN MARVEL. The studio has brought on directing duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (MISSISSIPPI GRIND) to helm the movie. Variety reports:
"[Marvel Studios head] Kevin Feige has an eye for tapping talent on the verge of breaking out, with James Gunn and the Russo brothers as prime examples, and that looks to be the case again with this duo.
"Execs met with the two numerous times and the pair impressed the studio time and time again with their vision for the heroine. Boden and Fleck have experience in both the TV and film world, which Marvel considers a strength."
CAPTAIN MARVEL will star Brie Larson in the title role as Carol Danvers and the movie, written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman, releases on March 8, 2019.
