Profile: Get to Know Ayesha in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

[Editor Disclaimer: The following is real Marvel Comics canon. What you are about to read is the comic book profile of Ayesha / Her / Kismet / Paragon. This might sound confusing.]

Kismet has had many names and origins throughout the years. Len Wein, David Kraft and Herb Trimpe created her in her first appeared as Paragon in 'The Incredible Hulk Annual No. 6' in 1977. And then appeared as Her / Kismet in 'Marvel Two-In-One No. 61' in March 1980. She also appeared as Ayesha in 'Fantastic Four No. 11,' in 1998.

Maris Morlak, a nuclear physicist, Jerome Hamilton, a medical biologist, Carlo Zota, an electronics technician, and Wladyslav Shinski, a geneticist, formed a grouped called the Enclave. Their mission was to improve the world by controlling it. They created a super soldier named “Him,” but 'Him' resisted, destroyed their base and escaped Earth. The Enclave began again, without the deceased Jerome Hamilton, and built Paragon. Paragon resisted, much like 'Him,' and The Enclave was defeated once again. Afterwards, Paragon went into a cocoon to restore herself and to meditate. Inside her cocoon, Paragon connected to computers to learn about 'Him,' her counterpart. She then adapted to a female form and took the name of “Her.” 'Her' tries to find 'Him' and discovers he's actually Adam Warlock, but he died in battle with Thanos.

After 'Her' quest for Adam Warlock, she became J’Ridia Starduster and protected the ravaged planet, Consortium. She was later captured by the Crucible and was made a slave. 'Her’s' new (slave) name became Ayesha and she was forced to fight heroes like the Fantastic Four under Crucible’s control. While under the control of Crucible, she develops mind control powers and is banished into another dimension upon defeat.

Kismet is 6-feet-6-inches tall and weighs 390 pounds. She has similar powers to Adam Warlock including superhuman strength and the manipulation of cosmic energy. She does not need to eat, drink, or rest. She can also fly and has limited telepathic abilities and can understand any language. When she is wounded she creates a cosmic cocoon in order to heal herself.

Kismet will appear in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 as Ayesha and hopefully her past won’t be as muddled as it is on Earth-616. In the movie, she is the leader of the Sovereign, an alien race who considers themselves to be genetically perfect and are extremely dangerous. Ayesha is a villain in the movie and will have many conflicts with the Guardians, including a space battle with her army. Ayesha’s appearance does mean Adam Warlock to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3
