According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Charlie Heaton (STRANGER THINGS) has been cast in the role of the mutant Cannonball, real name Sam Guthrie, in Fox's X-Men spin-off movie NEW MUTANTS. Heaton will join the growing mutant cast which includes Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane and Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik.

NEW MUTANTS will continue Fox's recent movement of trying something different in superhero movie genre, after their successful rated-R films DEADPOOL and LOGAN, by being a superhero-themed horror movie.
NEW MUTANTS is written by Josh Boone and Knate Lee as well as directed by Boone. It begins filming in the coming weeks and releases on April 13, 2018.
