First JUSTICE LEAGUE Domestic Opening Weekend Box Office Prediction is at $150 Million

The upcoming JUSTICE LEAGUE movie couldn't be more of a divisive topic right now. Production reports have shrouded this ensemble movie in drama and with the sudden departure of director Zack Synder, due to family loss, the addition of Joss Whedon was supposed to bring some positive light to this film. Unfortunately, more reports of extensive re-writes and reshoots costing the amount of a mid-budget film hasn't helped in getting the drama cloud to go away.

Moviegoers and comic book fans should already know the all stories of how BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE was critically panned and underperformed in the worldwide box office. It failed to break through the $1 billion barrier, as it was expected to do, but we won't get into that any further since it has been well documented in the past. Although, we will say that fan interest in JUSTICE LEAGUE is debatably not as strong online and on the social media landscape as it should be for a big movie featuring six of DC Comics' superheroes.

Which brings us to our point and that is to share it's first way-too-early domestic opening weekend box office prediction. BoxOfficePro reports it at $150 million, which is a huge number but one that also falls short of the $166 million BATMAN V. SUPERMAN took in during its domestic opening.

A movie where you have Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman might open bigger than a movie with those three heroes plus Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg. Simple addition of adding three more DC heroes should equate to a larger box office opening, in theory, but as of right now it does not. So don't have a knee-jerk reaction just yet.

This way-too-early projection could easily increase as we move closer to its November 17 opening date. However, this first prediction will not remove the dark cloud of drama that has continued to cast negativity during post-production.
