X-23: James Mangold Confirms Developing Female WOLVERINE Movie Script

Earlier this year actor Hugh Jackman took his final bow as Wolverine, in LOGAN. The James Mangold-written-and-directed-movie is not only the highest grossing Wolverine solo movie to-date, but it introduced a new female version of Wolverine, adapted from the pages of Marvel's comic books.

Laura Kinney, played by actress Dafne Keen, is the female version of Wolverine called X-23, and Mangold has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter he is currently developing a script for her own spin-off X-Men film.

"We're just working on a script..."
"[Patty Jenkins'] success with [her WONDER WOMAN] film only solidifies more for studios that there's less to fear with a female protagonist. The more that keeps getting hit home, that ends up giving me more space turning around and going, 'Well here we are with a female protagonist. That's incredible. And what are we going to do with her?' And that's where we are with [the Laura script] right now, dreaming."

Where an X-23 movie could led remains to be seen, but now that her movie is confirmed to be in the development script phase, rumors are bound to hit the Internet sooner than later.
