Fox is in the mutant movie business and while there's been recent reports of Disney's interest in acquiring the 20th Century Fox studio,— which would be re-acquiring all the live action rights to all-things X-Men, mutants, and Fantastic Four — Fox is still moving forward with their own planned Marvel movie projects.
Currently, Fox has the following films in some form of development, or in some state of production, in their Marvel movie universe: DEADPOOL 2, THE NEW MUTANTS, X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX, X-23 and GAMBIT.
Now, according to Deadline, you can add MULTIPLE MAN to this list. The Hollywood trade website reports that actor James Franco, who played Harry Osborne in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man Trilogy, is in final talks for the title role as Jamie Madrox, a mutant who can clone multiple versions of himself. Multiple Man has been on the big screen before and he was seen in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND.
The new film project will be written by Allan Heinberg, who wrote WONDER WOMAN, and be produced by Fox's mutant point man Simon Kinberg. No release date has been set since the script is said to be in the development phase right now.
