According to Variety, actor Jude Law is in final talks to join CAPTAIN MARVEL. The trade website reports Law will in fact be playing Doctor Walter Lawson, who is also known in the comics as Mar-Vell.
Law joins a growing cast that includes Brie Lawson in the title role as Carol Danvers and the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Also, Ben Mendelsohn is rumored to be the lead Skrull villain.
Mar-Vell — who is the original Captain Marvel in the Marvel comic book universe — will be a mentor to Lawson's Danvers as he will teach her about her new powers.
CAPTAIN MARVEL will be based in the 90s, features an adapted story of the Kree / Skrull War from the comics, begins filming in early 2018 and releases in the U.S. on March 8, 2019.
