The biggest concern coming out of Disney's buyout of Fox assets is what will happen with the mature-rated Deadpool franchise, starring Ryan Reynolds. Before the deal was finalized, many thought he could go PG-13, but Disney CEO Bob Iger has addressed now and he wants more of the same from Reynolds and the R-rated franchise!
Iger specifically calls out "Deadpool," wants to keep making sequels. "There may be an opportunity for an R-rated Marvel brand as long as we let audiences know what’s coming."— Ben Fritz (@benfritz) December 14, 2017
Oh thank you Mr. Iger and thank you too Movie Gods!
Deadpool needs to be his own thing as a mature-rated solo franchise and this is great to hear. Although, likely via the usage of the Multiverse in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, do not doubt the ability for Deadpool to crossover into a PG-13 MCU film in the future cracking jokes about how he can't swear.
This also seems like a good spot to hope for Chris Evans to continue on as Captain America after AVENGERS 4 since he is so against the use of bad language...
DEADPOOL 2 releases in the U.S. on June 1, 2018.
