With 2017 rapidly coming to a close it is time to look back at the past year. Welcome to the DailySuperHero.com wrap party!
Here's our 2nd annual awards for 2017's super hero movies:
BEST QUOTE
Winner: "I'm here to talk about one of the most important qualities a student or soldier can have: patience... Sometimes it leads to very little, and you wonder why you waited so long for something so disappointing." - Captain America, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING
Runner-Up: "I'm Mary Poppins, ya'll!" - Yondu, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAX VOL. 2
-----
BEST TEAM-UP
Winner: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg, JUSTICE LEAGUE
Runner-up: Wolverine and X-23, LOGAN
It may not have been a perfectly executed movie, due to two different directors, but finally seeing the Justice League fighting together on the big screen for the first time was just darn cool. They barely beat out the most rage-filled, claws-out, bloody berserker team-up.
-----
BEST FIGHT
Winner: Thor vs. Hulk, THOR: RAGNAROK
Runner-Up: Superman vs. Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg, JUSTICE LEAGUE
One of the best fight highlights in 2012's THE AVENGERS has received a second round and it did not disappoint. A very close second is when Superman is brought back to life and he takes on Justice League members in an epic face-off... and that side-eye at Flash instantly became a classic comic book movie moments.
-----
BEST VILLAIN
Winner: Michael Keaton, Adrian Toomes / Vulture, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING
Runner-Up: Cate Blanchett, Hela, THOR: RAGNAROK
Vulture is not the most popular villain in Spidey's rogue's gallery, but Keaton was able to make him one of the best bad guys in any Marvel Studios film. Blanchett was Marvel Studios' first female villain and had it not been for Keaton's brilliance then she would have nabbed the top spot in 2017.
-----
BEST SOUNDTRACK
Winner: Mark Mothersbaugh, THOR: RAGNAROK
Runner-Up: James Gunn, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2
-----
BREAKTHROUGH PERFORMANCE
Winner: Pom Klementieff, Mantis, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2
Runner-Up: Dafne Keen, Laura / X-23, LOGAN
Mantis was so adorable she is easily the biggest breakthrough of 2017's super hero films. She'll be back in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, but the same can't be said for the return of Keen as X-23 now that Disney bought the movie rights from Fox's assets for all-things X-Men, mutant, and more since the future of what we knew of Fox's X-Men mutants is in question.
-----
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Winner: Tessa Thompson, Valkyrie, THOR: RAGNAROK
Runner-Up: Rosario Dawson, Barbara Gordon / Batgirl, THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE
In a movie with Thor, Hulk, Hela and Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster it would be hard to steal some scenes, but Thompson's (drunk) Valkyrie does it throughout.
-----
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
Winner: Ezra Miller, Barry Allen / The Flash, JUSTICE LEAGUE
Runner-Up: Michael Keaton, Adrian Toomes / Vulture, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING
JUSTICE LEAGUE was for the introduction of Miller's Flash as BATMAN V. SUPERMAN was for Gadot's Wonder Woman. They both left a lasting impression on moviegoers who can't wait to see Miller return as the speedster sooner than later.
-----
BEST ACTRESS
Winner: Gal Gadot, Diana Prince, WONDER WOMAN
Runner-Up: Cate Blanchett, Hela, THOR: RAGNAROK
Gadot was arguably the best part of BATMAN V. SUPERMAN and that continued as her star shined bright in her first solo movie. Critics and fans loved her in WONDER WOMAN and a sequel is already in development.
-----
BEST ACTOR
Winner: Hugh Jackman, Wolverine, LOGAN
Runner-Up: Tom Holland, Peter Parker / Spider-Man, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING
Jackman could not get a better swan song for his nearly 20-year stint as Wolverine.
