In the coming weeks, filming begins in Vancouver on the next entry into the DC Extended Universe when SHAZAM! goes in front of the cameras. David F. Sandberg is directing with actor Zachary Levi in the title role and Asher Angel co-starring as Billy Batson. Actor Mark Strong is set to play the villain, Doctor Sivana.
According to TheWrap, Ron Cephas Jones will play the role of the Wizard. If you're unfamiliar, the Wizard is the one who gives the power of SHAZAM! to Billy Batson as he is one of the last remaining of the ancient counsel of wizards who must find themselves someone worthy of defeating the evil Black Adam. Previously, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was cast in the role of Black Adam but he was then given his own solo movie, which is currently in development. It is still unknown if Black Adam will have a cameo in SHAZAM!.
SHAZAM! releases in U.S. theaters on April 5, 2019.
