Box Office Report: In its third weekend of release, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR has surpassed THE AVENGERS to become Marvel Studios' highest grossing film, globally.
Domestically, Infinity War took in an estimated $61 million pushing its total to $547 million and inching closer to THE AVENGERS and its $623 million haul. For the studio, BLACK PANTHER still leads the way in the domestic gross chase with $696 million. Infinity War was the second-fastest movie to hit $500M, in 15 days, only behind STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, which did accomplished it in 10 days.
Internationally, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR finally opened in the world's second largest movie market, China. The film took in a near-record $200 million opening (estimated). This easily pushed the movie's International total over $1 billion and it currently sits with $1.05B.
Worldwide, the film has amassed over $1.6 billion moving AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR ahead of the $1.5 billion THE AVENGERS made. This makes Infinity War the studios' top worldwide earner.
The movie still has a chance to break the $2 billion barrier — and it would be the first summer movie release to do so. However, competition stiffens up next weekend as DEADPOOL 2 is set to release and take over at the top of the box office charts.
