Harrison Ford to Replace William Hurt as General "Thunderbolt" Ross in CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER
The late and great actor William Hurt has been General Thaddues "Thunderbolt" Ross starting back in 2008 in THE INCREDIBLE HULK and more recently in 2021's BLACK WIDOW. Sadly, Hurt passed away in March 2022 leaving the role to either be closed by Marvel Studios or to be recast for future appearances.
The studio choose the latter.
Deadline reports that actor Harrison Ford has been cast to replace Hurt in the role.
"It’s official. Oscar nominee Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones franchise) will be taking over the Marvel role of General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, beginning with Phase 5 title Captain America: New World Order. He’ll star there opposite Anthony Mackie, with Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson and Carl Lumbly also amongst the ensemble."
Obviously, Ford's new role as Ross will bee seen in several films moving forward as there is in fact a THUNDERBOLTS movie coming, but first he will be seen in CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER when it releases on May 3, 2024.
