According to Deadline, Lucasfilm is moving forward with yet another Skywalker Saga trilogy of films.
This time around they have hired producer and writer Simon Kinberg to be the creative on the projects.
Deadline writes:
"Lucasfilm has closed a deal with Simon Kinberg to develop a trilogy of Star Wars films. Kinberg will write the trio, and produce them with Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy."I heard this will comprise episodes 10-12 of The Skywalker Saga that began with George Lucas’s 1977 first film that along with Steven Spielberg’s Jaws reshaped the global blockbuster game. Insiders disputed my intel that Kinberg will continue that storyline, saying this will instead begin a new saga, and sit alongside Star Wars percolating projects with James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi and Donald Glover."
So wait... Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy thinks hiring the guy who was a creative on two of the worst Fox X-Men movies (APOCALYPSE and DARK PHOENIX) as well as 2015's FANTASTIC FOUR reboot is the answer? Big yikes.
With only one movie project (MANDALORIAN AND GROGU) actually making it into production since 2019's RISE OF SKYWALKER... Star Wars fans need to treat this news with the tiniest grain of salt.
